Social Media and Social Networking is all the buzz. More importantly it will only evolve and become more and more important for you to establish a solid presence across the major Social Media platforms. What this means is that it isn’t enough to just open a Twitter account or create a Facebook fan page, you really have to get involved with what’s being said about your brand.

Think of it like this, without Social Media word of mouth only has one side which is the customers experience, using Social Media tools allows you to participate in the conversation. People will talk about you, good or bad make sure you are there to either give thanks or offer resolutions.

So before you open a Twitter account or even start blogging, you should have a plan to actively participate in online conversations about your company. Social Media tools are changing the way we communicate with our customers and how our customers communicate with everyone they know. Don’t miss out of this golden opportunity to give you company a voice. So be social.

Here are a few tips to get you started

  1. Respond to all Twitter @replies and direct messages
  2. Respond to all of your blog comments
  3. Take advantage of your Facebook fan page and respond to your wall comments
  4. Respond to your followers Twitter post
